Community Heart Program
We are huge supporters of healthy, active kids and playing sport is a big part of that. Not just playing sport, but playing sport that is accessible and safe for everyone. This is why we think you should know about the Community Heart Program which is aiming to ensure Automated External Defibrillators (AED) are provided to every club in the Football Queensland community. Football Queensland is supported by almost 300 clubs throughout the state who participate in weekly football/soccer games for Brisbane kids and teenagers all year round.
AED’s are used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, and quick access to an AED is critical to improving the rates of survival for sudden cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrest can happen to anyone at any time, including children. In fact, we were told a defibrillator was recently used to assist a 14-year-old who suffered a cardiac arrest during a match.
The Community Heart Program will save lives
Football Queensland is aiming to ensure that there is an automated external defibrillator at every club and depending on the size of the club, more than one defibrillator may be needed to ensure one can reach the field within three minutes of a sudden cardiac arrest. Each AED has a warranty for 8 years and each club will be provided with training for up to 15 people and equipped with a number of other supporting materials to ensure proper storage, care and knowledge of the AED.
How you can help your football club
Never has there been a more important reason to fundraise for your club. The Stryker community fundraising program is available to all Queensland clubs for the purpose of fundraising for Automated External Defibrillators. Your football club simply needs to apply, and your club can then raise money to achieve that goal. The website is easy to use and acts like a crowd funding website, so it can be accessed from any device, anywhere and is easily shareable on social media pages. There are no transaction fees and support is provided to help your club set up the campaign.
This community platform is not just limited to football. Strykerโs Community Heart Program allows not-for-profit, sporting, religious and educational organisations across Australia and New Zealand to apply for the opportunity to fundraise via the platform.
