HMAS Moreton Beat to Quarters and Ceremonial Sunset

3 September
HMAS Moreton Beat to Quarters and Ceremonial Sunset

Mark the Royal Australian Navy’s 125th anniversary at King George Square this September 2026. Ideal for Brisbane families, this free sunset ceremony features traditional drum beats and historic age-of-sail military rituals in the city centre.

HMAS Moreton Beat to Quarters and Ceremonial Sunset

The community is invited to celebrate the Navy’s 125th anniversary with the Beat to Quarters and Ceremonial Sunset at King George Square.

This practice dates back centuries to the age of sail, when a ship’s drums were beaten to summon men to quarters or action stations when battle was imminent.

This is a free event.
