Ipswich WaterFest: Plant for the Platypus

WaterFest Community Planting at Jack Barkley Park

Ipswich City Council and Conservation Volunteers Australia are joining forces for a hands-on community planting day at Jack Barkley Park, helping to improve habitat along the banks of Bundamba Creek. Together, volunteers will plant a mix of native trees and shrubs to boost local canopy cover, stabilise creek banks and create healthier waterways for the platypus that call this area home.

Whether brand new to planting or a seasoned green thumb, all are welcome. A friendly team will be on hand to share their knowledge and guide participants throughout the day, and all tools and equipment are provided.

After the planting, participants can enjoy a free lunch before joining a special walk-and-talk with Dr Tamielle Brunt from PlatypusWatch, where she will share her expertise on platypus conservation and these elusive creatures.
