This year’s festival holds special significance, marking the 50th Anniversary of the Australia-Japan Friendship Treaty, and promises an unforgettable day of cultural discovery for all ages.
The festival will feature a program of traditional and contemporary stage performances, including taiko drumming, J-pop performances, and martial arts demonstrations. Visitors can savour the flavours of authentic Japanese street food, explore a wide range of specialty goods, and enjoy sake or Japanese beer from a dedicated Japanese bar.
Cultural highlights include live demonstrations of ikebana (flower arranging), tea ceremony, and calligraphy, with hands-on workshops available for those wanting a deeper experience. Families can enjoy fun kids’ activities including origami, kendama, spinning tops, and traditional Japanese festival games.
