Queensland Air Museum Open Day – Planes, Trains & Automobiles
The Queensland Air Museum is holding its next Open Day, Planes, Trains & Automobiles, bringing together aviation, motoring, modelling and history.
Seven aircraft* will be open for visitors to explore, including the F-111, DC-3, Huey and Wessex, along with all three generations of the museum’s Lockheed maritime patrol and anti-submarine aircraft: the WWII-era Ventura, the P-2 Neptune and the P-3 Orion. Visitors can step inside the aircraft, explore the cockpits and interiors, and talk with museum volunteers about their history, restoration and what it was like to fly and maintain them.
Classic, performance and military vehicles will be on display from several visiting clubs, including the Holden HSV/HDT Club, Ford XR6/XR8 Club, Maroochy Car Owners Club, ADF/QPS Club and a representative from the Military Jeep Club. Vehicles on show will range from Holdens and Fords to military Jeeps and a Lamborghini Gallardo.
The day also includes several model railway displays, model ships from visiting clubs, and radio-controlled aircraft and boats. There will be free popcorn, along with a sales table featuring vintage and second-hand model kits and books.
Further attractions, displays and activities will be announced closer to the date. Tickets are available in advance and at the door, with general admission prices applying.
