The God of Small Things Faith and Popular Culture Exhibition
Families are invited to explore The God of Small Things: Faith and Popular Culture, a fascinating exhibition at QAGOMA that reveals how faith and everyday life are closely intertwined.
At the heart of the exhibition is a rare collection of vibrant oleographs by Indian artist Raja Ravi Varma (1848–1906). These colourful works, rich in storytelling and detail, bring to life the ways devotional imagery became part of popular culture. Alongside these historic pieces, artworks from QAGOMA’s contemporary Asian collection offer fresh perspectives on belief, blending tradition with modern interpretations.
This exhibition is also part of an exciting conservation and cultural exchange between QAGOMA and the Museum of Art and Photography in Bengaluru, India—ensuring these treasured works can be enjoyed by generations to come.
With its mix of striking visuals, cultural storytelling, and thought-provoking ideas, The God of Small Things: Faith and Popular Culture offers families a meaningful way to connect art, history, and everyday life.
