World Mangrove Day at Osprey House
Families are invited to Osprey House to celebrate World Mangrove Day with a fascinating and educational experience guided by local environmental expert, Bob Crudgington from EnviroEd. This free event includes a short presentation followed by a guided walk through the stunning mangrove ecosystem, where guests will learn about the essential role mangroves play in protecting our coastlines and supporting marine biodiversity.
Bob will share his extensive knowledge of the mangrove species found around Moreton Bay and teach attendees how to identify them, while also highlighting the importance of these habitats to our local environment.
Interactive features include:
- A wave tank demonstration showing how mangroves protect the shoreline
- Guided boardwalk exploration for younger nature lovers, where children can spot birdlife, crabs, fish, and other creatures living in the mangroves, saltmarsh and intertidal flats

Bob Crudgington is the founder of EnviroEd, an environmental education platform focused on Southeast Queensland’s ecosystems. With a background in marine research and long-standing community conservation work, Bob’s passion for protecting local habitats makes this a rich and engaging learning opportunity for all ages.
