Free curriculum-based videos for Australian high school students
FreeSchool provides free online tutoring, in the form of educational videos in line with the Australian Curriculum, for high school students in years 7 to senior. This not-for-profit organisation’s goal is to ensure that every Australian child has access to quality education–anywhere, anytime–so they have the opportunity to build themselves and their communities a brighter future.
What is FreeSchool?
With almost 4 million primary and high school students in Australia, many sadly fall behind in their formal education. For around 2.4 million of these children who live in regional and remote areas of Australia, children from lower socio-economic backgrounds, and those who have health reasons preventing them from attending school, this problem is exacerbated.
FreeSchool was created to close this gap by providing free online education to students—wherever they may be in Australia, and whatever their background. FreeSchool’s online teachers deliver lessons that align with the Australian Curriculum in the form of engaging video tutorials, so students can take a class at any time.
How to get free online tutoring with FreeSchool
With lessons presented by some of Australia’s best teachers, FreeSchool’s pre-recorded, free online tutoring classes cover a wide variety of high school subject areas for grades 7 to senior, including Maths, Science, English, and Humanities.
The first step in accessing FreeSchool is to select your year level at school, followed by choosing the subject you are interested in. From here, you will see a large selection of videos, covering a wide variety of areas that fall under the current Australian Curriculum for that subject in that particular year level.
As an example, if you were looking for support for Grade 9 Maths, these are just some of the tutorials currently available –

- Ratio & Problem Solving
- Scientific Notation
- Index Laws
With over 8,000 videos currently available, FreeSchool’s database of free online tutoring sessions is growing rapidly.
Why use FreeSchool?
FreeSchool is not intended to replace classroom learning, rather to support those who might need that extra help if they fall behind.
Students visiting the FreeSchool website may do so for a number of reasons, including finding a high school teacher that they connect with, studying at their own pace, or even to explore new topics or areas that may interest them outside of what they are currently learning at school.
FreeSchool gives peace of mind to parents seeking curriculum-aligned educational support for their child, whether they simply aren’t keeping up at school, or they are unable to attend school due to geographical or health reasons. It’s also a great tool for parents to use when helping their kids with homework (let’s face it – we can’t possibly remember everything we were taught all those years ago!).
Support FreeSchool
As a not-for-profit organisation, FreeSchool relies on community support. There are several ways you can contribute to ensure this initiative remains available to all Australian children in the future:
Donate to FreeSchool
The easiest way you can support FreeSchool is to donate; either as a one-off contribution or as weekly, monthly, or annually donations. Donations help FreeSchool expand their lessons on offer and will give students access to a wider range of inspiring Australian teachers.
Teaching for FreeSchool
If you are a qualified Australian teacher who is passionate about making education equitable to all Australians, then FreeSchool wants you! You can share your lessons on the FreeSchool platform and connect with students all over Australia to help them become their best, whilst also providing inspiration and ideas to your teaching peers.
Other ways to support FreeSchool
FreeSchool is also looking for partners in the following areas to help them expand their accessibility across Australia: Marketing & Advertising, Web & Technology, Educational and Non-profit sectors.
