As the days heat up and the kids want to cool down, head to the Hibiscus Sports Complex to wallow in the pools, splash in the water or scream as you slip down 20m twisty, water slide. Or if you prefer, take advantage of more structured events like learn to swim classes, swim squad or group fitness. No matter what activity you chose to partake in, enjoy hot days at this cool, community focused sports complex.
Hibiscus Sports Complex Pool
Hibiscus Sports Complex has a bit of something for everyone looking to cool down in the water this Summer – indoor and outdoor pools, a fun water slide and a dedicated water play area.
Outdoors, a 50 metre Olympic-sized pool commands the area, with thoughtful shading provided by shade sails at the shallow end, making it an ideal spot for smaller Brisbane Kids to swim and play.
For those who may not be overly confident swimmers but still want to play and splash, the water play area, complete with an island and small slide is a great option. It is partially covered by shade sails too.
The older children, or perhaps the younger ones with a healthy sense of adventure, may like to slip and scream their way down the 20m twisty, water slide. You won’t be able to miss it – it is bright yellow! (Check for operating hours – open in Summer only).
If the sun is too bright or the water too cold in the outdoor pool, head indoors to take advantage of the indoor heated pools. Here you will find a 25 metre pool for recreation and fitness and a 12 metre pool for learn to swim classes.
Additionally, a health and fitness club, squash centre, netball centre, skate park and kiosk are also located on site—all that you could possibly need for a great day out with your Brisbane Kids.
Before visiting, make sure you check the Brisbane City Council website or phone ahead as some areas/pools may be closed at certain times for classes and events.
Accessibility at Hibiscus Sports Complex Pool
Concrete paths can be found throughout the complex with a ramp from the upper level to lower level. While there is no ramp access into the pools, there is a cable chair which can be utilised in the 12m and 50m pool. Accessible toilets and changing facilities are available.
The pools are set amongst landscaped grounds with picnic tables and umbrella’s situated around the area.

What We Thought of Hibiscus Sports Complex Pool
There are so many options for all ages at Hibiscus Sports Complex Pool. We loved playing in the water play area despite the water being very cold as this little wading pool is not heated.
The bright yellow, twisty water slide looks like fun, but does have limited hours, so if this is something your family is to experience, phone ahead to see when it is operational.
