  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to doโ€ฆ

Joe Bradfield Centre Park

Last Updated: June 18, 2024

The Joe Bradfield Centre Park has something for everyone. The fully fenced Maud Walker Playground and learn to ride track, as well as tennis courts, basketball courts, cricket nets, lots of open green space, accessible toilets and a fenced dog park.

Joe Bradfield Centre Park Playground

The Maud Walker Playground is naturally shaded by big mature trees and shade sails, making it a terrific space any time of the day. The playground features climbing equipment, a slide, tunnel, bridge and play stations for small Brisbane Kids.

Joe Bradfield Scooter Park

But perhaps the biggest drawcard is the learn-to-ride area. This flat surface is perfect for beginners and has just enough turns and intersections to amuse them. The traffic lights and road signs spark imaginary play and allow essential discussion around road safety.

Unlike many other Brisbane scooter parks, this is on a flat bitumen surface minus the usual obstacles that can make things tricky for younger kids. We also like that the track is quite condensed, focusing on the basics like tight turning circles, rights and lefts and patience in waiting for other rides to pass by.

Outside the fenced area, there are two tennis courts, two cricket nets/pitches, two basketball/netball courts and plenty of open green space. The courts are council owned and therefore everyone can use them. Accessible toilets are located between the fenced playground and dog park.

Imagination Factor at Joe Bradfield Centre Park

There is so much for Brisbane Kids to do at the Joe Bradfield Centre Park. Smaller kids can practice their scooter and bike skills on the flat track or play on the wooden climber. The traffic lights and road signs will probably spark some imaginary play and give opportunity for basic discussion around road safety.

Bigger kids will enjoy shooting hoops on the full-size basketball court, hitting a ball on the tennis courts and practicing their cricket skills in the nets.

Accessibility at Joe Bradfield Centre Park

Seating at Joe Bradfield Centre Park.

The fully fenced Maud Walker Playground is great for smaller Brisbane Kids. Most of the playground is shaded by large trees and shade sails. The flat asphalt paths within the playground are designed for scooting/bikes.

The other courts: basketball, tennis and cricket are hard, flat surfaces with little shade. There is plenty of street parking and a nearby fence dog park. There are accessible toilets.

What We Thought of Joe Bradfield Centre Park

Playground under shade sails at Joe Bradfield Centre Park.

We love heading to Joe Bradfield Centre Park; it is a great place to practice and gain confidence riding and scooting. When the kids tire of riding, they can play on the playground or run around and kick a ball.

One of the redeeming features of this park is the large amounts of natural shade, which always gets a big tick of approval from us.

There is plenty of grassy areas in the park, perfect to lay down a picnic rug, so make sure you pack the snacks and enjoy the peaceful setting. Oh and don’t forget the balls – shooting some hoops on the basketball courts, having a hit of cricket in the nets or a game of tennis is always fun.
