Tucked away in suburban Stafford on the north side of Brisbane is a gem of a park offering a fenced playground for all ages, a community centre available for hire, sports equipment, bike tracks and lots more. Read on to find out why a visit to Keong Park and Turner Playground is a must for your Brisbane Kid!
Keong Park and Turner Playground — The Fun
Keong Park is a large green space with BBQs, sheltered tables, a full-sized basketball court, performance area with stage, football field, exercise equipment, BMX track and paths for scooters or bikes. Best of all though is the fenced playground within the park, known as Turner Playground. The playground is attached to a community centre (which is available for event hire such as birthday parties) but can be accessed any time by the public. Within the playground is a variety of play equipment — swings, forts, flying fox, spinners, seesaws and more. There is also an obstacle course for older children and a shaded sand pit. You will need to bring your own sand toys for the sand pit but there are water bubblers located nearby to help your Brisbane Kid make the perfect sand castle!
Keong Park and Turner Playground — Imagination Factor
Bring the bike or scooter and follow the paved pathways or let your BMX enthusiast loose on the dedicated track. Pack a basketball and shoot a few hoops on the full-sized basketball court. Bring some sausages and have a sausage sizzle on the wood or electric barbecues. Enjoy a picnic under the trees at Turner playground while your children safely explore, run, jump, swing, dig and slide.
Special Needs Considerations
The park is mostly flat with concreted paths which are suitable for prams and wheelchairs. There is an off-road car park on Teevan Street at Stafford which is convenient for the community centre and playground.
