If your kids love dinosaurs and climbing, this will quickly be their new favourite playground!
Riverdale Park playground
Riverdale Park is filled with loads of climbing opportunities for all ages. Everything from very high nets and tunnels and strategy-building challenges to basic climbing and balancing suited to toddlers.
There are dinosaurs everywhere, some obvious and some hidden. Scattered throughout the playground, kids will interact with dinosaur footprints, eggs, baby dinosaurs, life-like sculptures, skeletons, giant dinosaurs, and dinosaur motifs. The dinosaurs are all fit to climb or simply spark imaginative play.
The swings, stepping and balancing logs, trampoline, rocker, and musical instruments will keep little kinaesthetic movers content as they play and explore. For creative kids, the predominantly sand base is perfect for building soft sculptures.
BBQs, covered picnic tables, accessible toilets, and water if you want to stay longer or set up for a party/gathering.
The open green space is great for putting down a picnic rug, kicking a ball, or throwing a frisbee. Nearby the playground, there is a basketball half-court, exercise equipment, a large rotunda, other picnic tables and a dog park.
Imagination factor
Imagine being a palaeontologist as you weave around Riverdale Park playground. There are bones, fossils, eggs, and baby dinosaurs to study. Climb the many structures to get a higher view, and hopefully, you will discover more of these prehistoric creatures.
Accessibility
Flat paths around the playground make it accessible for prams, walking aids and wheelchairs. There is plenty of parking, including designated disabled parking. The wider park has some covered picnic tables and block walls to sit on. Shade sails provide shade, but some areas are still in the full sun, so bring sun protection. Accessible toilets are a short walk from the playground. Unfortunately, this park is not fenced.

What we thought of Riverdale Park
This park is going to be tough to beat! There is so much to do and explore for all age groups. We especially loved the big climbing net and large slide despite it initially feeling a bit scary. The musical instruments were a lot of fun. Discovering the many hidden dinosaur remains was great for little curious minds and to initiate conversation.
