Tucked away in the Brisbane Arcade, Room with Roses is a charming high tea spot where parents and children can enjoy colourful cakes, floral touches and a hint of vintage elegance.
A Classic High Tea Experience
Room with Roses sits on the balcony level of the beautiful, heritage-listed Brisbane Arcade, right in the middle of the city. You’ll feel like you’ve been transported to a quiet London tea parlour, yet it’s just a short walk from the bustle of Queen Street Mall.
The space is filled with English charm. There are fresh roses on the tables, floral-patterned plates and comfortable armchairs. Even though it’s in a busy shopping arcade, this tea parlour feels peaceful and relaxing.
What the Kids Will Enjoy at Room with Roses
There isn’t a dedicated children’s menu, but kids are more than welcome. Older children can enjoy a full adult high tea, while younger children up to the age of 8 can share your high tea at no extra cost.
The food is presented on tiered stands, with miniature sandwiches, warm bites, and petite, colourful cakes decorated with edible flowers.
The sandwiches are small and easy for children to handle, and they will love spreading jam and cream on their miniature scones. But the highlight will undoubtedly be the pretty, dainty cakes, including a strawberries and cream tart, honey Bundt cake, and Turkish delight cupcake.
The tea comes in small teapots, complete with strainers, perfect for little hands learning to pour (with a little help!). Kids can enjoy fruity options like Turkish apple tea, while adults can choose classics such as Earl Grey and Darjeeling.
Our High Tea Verdict

A true Brisbane institution, the space, presentation, and tasty treats make it a lovely outing for parents and kids alike. If your little one loves dressing up and pretending to be a princess, they will be in their element here.
For an elegant and pretty spot for high tea with your little ones, or a “mummy and me” day out, Room with Roses is definitely worth a visit!
