It’s always a win when a family-friendly venue includes a dedicated space just for kids, and The Treehouse at The Full Moon Hotel delivers exactly that. Located in the heart of the popular Full Moon Hotel overlooking North Moreton Bay, this play area gives little ones a place to explore and imagine.
It’s an ideal location to drop in to after a morning spent enjoying Sandgate’s foreshore. The Treehouse suits toddlers, preschoolers and younger primary school-aged children.
The Space
The Treehouse is an open plan play area that sits right in the centre of the restaurant, allowing parents to keep children within sight (children must be always supervised).
The space features a cubby house complete with a play kitchen, play cafe window, toy food and a vegetable patch. There’s also a swing bench, as well as a beautiful feature tree decorated with fairy lights (which isn’t for swinging off), a book nook, an oversized wooden Connect Four, large wooden building blocks and plenty of room for imaginative play.
Older children may appreciate the arcade area more, which includes a selection of family-friendly games (additional charges apply).
Tables surround the play space, making it easy for parents to enjoy a coffee or meal while keeping an eye on the kids. The venue is pram-friendly, wheelchair accessible, and highchairs are also available.
Families also have the option of outdoor seating on the deck or footpath dining areas, both offering beautiful bayside views. However, these areas aren’t within watching distance to the Treehouse, and kids must be supervised at all times.
The Kids’ Menu
The kids’ menu caters for children under 12 and has breakfast favourites such as waffles and bacon and eggs, while lunch and dinner options feature family-friendly classics such as fish and chips, woodfired pizza, burgers and chicken nuggets.
Portion sizes work for younger diners and offer good value for families. To keep little hands busy while waiting for meals, colouring activities are also available.
The Parent Factor
The Treehouse doesn’t just work for kids, it’s a venue parents can genuinely enjoy spending time in too. They could enjoy a coffee, meal or catch up with friends while the children play nearby.
Beyond family dining, the hotel regularly hosts live music, live sport and occasional family-friendly events, which can include face painting, balloon artists and craft workshops.
Whether you’re meeting other parents for coffee during the week or planning a family dinner, the setup makes dining out with children feel considerably less stressful.
The Magic Ingredient
The standout feature is the way The Treehouse encourages imaginative play. Rather than relying solely on climbing equipment, it invites children to create their own adventures through role play. From serving pretend coffees in the cubby house to cooking in the play kitchen or building with wooden blocks.
It’s the kind of play area where little kids can happily disappear into their own world while parents might get the rare opportunity to finish their meal in peace.
