Thrush Street Park is a beautiful suburban park in Inala and is worth a visit with your Brisbane Kids! There’s something fun for kids of all ages here and we can’t get over the misting forest with interactive water sprayers – we know this will be a hit with families in warmer months!
Thrush Street Park playground
There are lots of elements packed into a relatively small space here at the Thrush Street Park playground. Highlights include a large climbing structure with two super slides, a long flying fox, swings and a merry-go-round.
The water play section here is a huge drawcard featuring a hand water pump with a creek running towards the misting forest. The misting forest consists of large tree-like structures with buttons on them, which activate showers from the branches. It could be wise to pack some spare clothes, togs and towels if you’re coming here on a warmer day as the water would be pretty irresistible.
Younger Brisbane Kids will love the merry-go-round, swings, musical play elements, and interactive panels with games. For multiple kids, a large see-saw rocker awaits.
Another section of the park has a bitumen road track with street signs. However, this section isn’t visible from the playground, so keep that in mind if you’re supervising more than one child.
Imagination Factor
Brisbane Kids can easily imagine they’re in a tropical environment, with the water cascading down from the misting forest. The water pump and creek encourage children to use their STEM skills (science, technology, engineering and maths) in figuring out how to operate the pump and to divert the flow of water. Budding engineers might even be able to construct bridges over the water.
The large climbing tower could become a rocket ship with a bit of imagination, complete with a hammock underneath for sleeping quarters and the slide as an escape route.
Fantastic stepping stones and other fun landscaping elements throughout this playground will encourage visitors to explore and interact with the space.
Accessibility
There are elements here designed with accessibility in mind. The merry-go-round is level with the soft fall surrounds so visitors using wheelchairs and other mobility devices can play. The interactive panels and musical elements are also on this surface. Wide concrete paths feature throughout the playground with one that leads to the water pump and the misting forest, (which sits over a concrete base).
While there is an off-street car park here, it’s on a gravel surface and to get from the car park to the playground, you have to travel a short distance over uneven grass. Thrush Street Park Features

The slide is metal and got hot on the late winter day I went so will likely be scolding on summers day. It is definitely a park suitable for older kids as it is a big climb and very tall slides.
Defiantly a great park for older kids, not great for my toddler … to much equipment that we couldn’t use but she wanted to use

There’s toilets there now (visited August 2024)
