  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to doโ€ฆ

parenting program triple p free

Whether you are pregnant with your first child, a parent to multiple young children or dealing with tweens and teenagers, the online courses offered by Triple P the Positive Parenting Program are a great way to gain support and information during your journey.  FREE to parents in Queensland, the program helps parents find way to navigate the path of parenthood and gain skills and understanding along the way.

What is Triple P?

The Triple P โ€“ Positive Parenting Program is designed to take your parenting skills to the next level, giving you all the information and support you need to create a strong, healthy and loving family dynamic.

Triple P is an evidence-based program with over 35 years of research sitting behind the techniques within the course. Incredibly, there are more than 280 evaluation papers that show Triple P can work for families unhindered by culture, socio-economic and family structure differences.

Triple P โ€“ Positive Parenting Program is a program that teaches parents how to deal with and even prevent emotional and behavioural problems in children and adolescents. It provides simple and reliable solutions to navigate a whole range of parenting issues: from temper tantrums in toddlers to rebellion and aggression in teenagers. Through an interactive and flexible program, Triple P can give you the skills and confidence to correct bad behaviour, set boundaries, and build a positive relationship with your child.

What are the benefits of the Triple P program?

The Triple P Positive Parenting Program gives you strategies to address your parenting problems straight away. As a result, you will immediately feel more confident and in control as you act in new ways to:

  • Build a stronger and more positive family dynamic
  • Encourage consistently good behaviour in your child
  • Effectively manage problem behaviour with confidence
  • Predict potentially difficult situations and navigate your child successfully through them
  • Build the best possible relationship with your child
  • Learn to look after your own emotional needs as a parent

Triple P is free online

Triple P online is free in Queensland. It is an easy, accessible way of learning new parenting skills and reinforcing the great skills you probably already have.  They offer a few different parenting programs based on the age of your child.  Details on these are listed below.

Triple P for parents with babies

For parents with newborn babies there is a specific online course for you.  Once registered online you will be guided through some steps to make it more personalised by stating the age of your baby (or even if they are not born yet) and your confidence levels.  You can then work your way through the following seven modules:

Module 1: Introduction to Triple P online for baby

Module 2: Understanding your baby’s development

Module 3: Promoting your baby’s development

Module 4: Responding to your baby

Module 5: Survival skills

Module 6: Partner support

Module 7: Reviewing and maintaining progress

Triple P for parents of young kids

online safety for kids

If you have young children or are looking for some helpful parenting tips before the birth of your first child, then the Triple P online course for young kids (aged 0 – 12) would be perfect for you.

One you have registered they aim to personalise the course more for you and so you will be asked to choose three things that you feel are the issues you would like to address the most.  Things like bedtime, not listening, mealtime, disobedience when out shopping etc.  You then rate on a scale how confident you are with dealing with the issues.  Finally, they provide some tips to get the most out of your course.  You are then directed to your course desktop where you can work your way through the following nine modules:

Module 1: What is positive parenting?

Module 2: Encouraging behaviour you like

Module 3: Teaching new skills

Module 4: Managing Misbehaviour

Module 5: Dealing with disobedience

Module 6: Preventing problems by planning ahead

Module 7: Making shopping fun

Module 8: Raising confident, capable kids

Triple P for parents of teens and pre-teens

Much like the online course for younger kids, the Triple P program for teens and tweens follows a similar module-based learning online program.  Catering for parents with children aged between 10 – 16 years, the list of issues you may want help with also includes things like help with things like devices and friendships etc.  The following modules are covered in this program.

Module 1: What is positive parenting?

Module 2: Encouraging appropriate behaviour

Module 3: Teaching new skills

Module 4: Managing problem behaviour

Module 5: Planning ahead for risky situations

Module 6: Raising confident, capable teenagers

Fear-Less Triple P Online Course

Many children suffer from anxiety, be it in big or small ways, and this program is aimed to help parents develop the skills and confidence needed to help their child through this.  Fear-Less Triple P has been developed by clinical psychologists Dr Vanessa Cobham, a specialist in the field of child anxiety and Dr. Matt Sanders, a world-renowned authority in the field of parenting. They are based at the University of Queensland, Australia. The strategies are derived from a lifetime of face-to-face clinical work with families. There are six modules available:

Module 1: Understanding anxiety

Module 2: Promoting emotional resilience

Module 3: Setting a good example and encouraging flexible, realistic thinking

Module 4: Overcoming avoidance

Module 5: Responding to children’s anxiety

Module 6: Constructive problem-solving and maintaining progress.

Triple P for parents of kids with a disability

Whilst the Stepping Stones program for parents of kids with a disability is no longer available, the Triple P program offers a lot of advice and assistance for helping parents navigate their way through difficult situations and issues.

Additional courses on their site also include ones on dealing with parenting stress and time pressures.
