  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to doโ€ฆ

Can You Hire A Pram At The Ekka | Brisbane Kids Quick Tip

Last updated: June 20, 2025
Child in pram.

Visiting the Ekka is a fun, family-friendly outing which is enjoyed by many. With so much to see and do at the annual Royal Queensland Show, little legs can tire easy. So, if you are visiting the Ekka this year but don’t have a pram, don’t worry, we have all the information on where and how you can hire one to make sure your visit is more enjoyable.

Can You Hire a Pram at the Ekka?

Great news! Yes, you can most definitely hire prams and other mobility aides at the Ekka.

For those requiring prams, both single and double prams can be hired, while wheelchairs (Standard and bariatric) and mobility scooters can also be hired at the Ekka.

When: Daily – strictly between 9am – 5pm.

Where: Underneath the John MacDonald stand

Cost: Pram hire starts from $30. More details can be found at the Ekka website.

Bookings: Online bookings are preferred, though walk-up bookings are permitted, should the equipment be available.

Note – you are required to pay a bond which is refundable on return of the item under terms of signed hire agreement.

Navigating the Ekka with a Pram

If you choose to utilise a pram or stroller at the Ekka, then you will be pleased to hear the venue is relatively pram friendly with flat surfaces for the most part.

The organisers have made sure accessibility is a priority with ramps in place to provide easy access between roads and footpaths, as well as entrances into Pavilions. There are also elevators located on each level of the Channel Seven Pavilion and at the Animal Pavilion.

Just remember, there may be some areas where you are required to leave your pram outside, like at the animal nursery or on rides. If possible have a member of your group stay with the pram or if you are required to leave it unattended make sure you take all valuables with you.

If your pram is starting to tip over due to too many bags or paraphernalia hanging off it, lockers are available for hire, under the John MacDonald stand and at other areas around the venue.

While many toilets are located at the Ekka, there are only a few parents rooms dotted around the grounds for those with babies and young children.

Will You Need a Pram at the Ekka?

If you usually use a pram when out and about then YES you should definlelty take a pram to to the Ekka. Even if you only occasionally use a pram for your child, then consider taking one.

The distance between the different attractions means long walks, and for toddlers, many opportunities to get lost or overwhelmed by the crowds.

Benefits of Taking a Pram

  • Your toddler will have somewhere they can rest or sleep
  • The pram will keep the kids safe and calm as you move between different pavilions
  • You can use it as a seat for the toddler while eating, meaning you only need to find seating for yourself and others
  • The pram is somewhere for your toddler to sit on public transport which can be very crowded during peak Ekka times
  • You will have a great spot to store any show bags (so leave that part until last)

Downsides of Taking a Pram

  • It can be difficult navigating large crowds, particularly in narrow areas or areas with steps.
  • You may be required to leave it in a designated pram parking area when you go to certain attractions and on rides.
  • It can be hard to find a spot on a train. Arrive early for any public transport, locate the bright wheelchair signage indicating that there will be a train worker who will come out near that area, providing you with the support you might need to get on the train.

On behalf of Brisbane Kids we wish you a safe and wonderful Ekka experience. You might be interested to read all about how to make the most of taking a toddler to the Ekka.
