Who says a suitcase is only for holidays?
From snacks and water bottles to spare clothes and toys, even a simple family outing can involve a surprising amount of packing. Whether it’s a weekend adventure or a busy day away from home, keeping everything organised can be a challenge.
While suitcases are usually associated with holidays and airports, the Airwheel SE3SL takes a different approach to everyday luggage. It combines practical storage with an optional electric riding function.
Here’s what families should know.
What is the Airwheel SE3SL?
The Airwheel SE3SL is an electric rideable suitcase, marketed as a 20-inch case with 20 litres of storage. It has a built-in motor, a seating area and controls on an extendable handlebar.
Where riding is permitted, a rider sits on the suitcase and operates it using the handlebar controls. When the electric function isn’t needed, it can be pulled like conventional wheeled luggage.
For families, its main everyday use is storage: snacks, water bottles, spare clothes, wipes and toys kept together in one case rather than several smaller bags.

Airwheel SE3SL features and specifications
The SE3SL combines 20 litres of storage with a removable battery and an electric riding function. The figures below are the manufacturer’s published specifications.

The speed and range figures are advertised maximums. Actual performance varies with rider weight, luggage load, battery condition and riding surface, so typical range may be lower than 10 km.
All weights are before packing. Belongings added to the case increase the total weight to lift and carry.
Who is the Airwheel SE3SL designed for?
The SE3SL is intended for travellers who want luggage storage combined with an optional electric riding function. It has a maximum rider load of 95kg and a maximum speed of 10km/h.
Airwheel does not specify a minimum rider age for the SE3SL. Before allowing a child to ride, parents should consider whether the child is within the weight limit, can sit securely and reach the handlebar, and can operate the controls safely.
Speed limit for younger riders. The SE3SL has an adjustable speed mode, so its top speed can be set below the 10km/h maximum. Parents can choose a lower limit while a child gets used to riding, then raise it once the rider is confident.
Airwheel also sells separate children’s models with lower speeds and different designs. These should not be considered interchangeable with the SE3SL.

Can you take an Airwheel SE3SL on a plane?
The SE3SL is built with flying in mind. Its 73.26 Wh battery is removable, which many airlines require for smart luggage, and sits below the 100 Wh limit CASA applies to spare lithium batteries carried in the cabin without airline approval.
Acceptance is still up to each airline, so check that they accept smart luggage, whether the battery must be removed, and whether the case fits their cabin size and weight limits. At about 7.4kg with the battery fitted, it may exceed the 7 kg cabin allowance on some economy fares.
Where can you ride an electric suitcase?
The SE3SL gives you two modes in one case: ride it where it’s allowed, and roll it like regular luggage everywhere else.
Riding rules vary. In Queensland, personal mobility devices are covered by Department of Transport and Main Roads rules, so check with the relevant authority before riding in public areas. Private venues, including airports, may also restrict riding.
Where riding is permitted, choose smooth, dry, level ground with room around you. Adjustable speed modes let riders start on a gentler setting.
What should families consider before buying?
The SE3SL is made for families who are always packing for something, from day outings to weekends away. A few practical points help you picture how it fits your routine.
Storage space. The 20-litre compartment keeps snacks, a change of clothes and everyday essentials together in one case. For bigger outings, pair it with a small backpack.
Weight. At about 7.4kg with the battery fitted, it’s a little heavier than a standard cabin case, so think about how often you’ll lift it into the car or up stairs. On the ground, it simply rolls.
Riding surfaces. It rides best on smooth, dry and level ground. On grass, gravel or uneven paths, it’s easy to pull along like any wheeled suitcase instead.
If that sounds like your family’s routine, the SE3SL brings storage and an electric ride together in one compact case.
