Arthur Davis Park is one of our favourite northside parks for many reasons. There is something magical about being by the water and watching young children playing happily in the great outdoors โ both of which you can enjoy when spending time at Arthur Davis Park on the foreshore in Sandgate.
Arthur Davis Park playground
This shady, beachside playground is host to a variety of play equipment which is sure to entertain young families.
Partially fenced from the road, the playground has a bark and rubber base, making many parts accessible for those requiring a stable surface. Play panels, rockers plus the more traditional slides and swings are dotted around the playground, with a strong nautical theme.
A fun play boat, which even rocks to give the impression of sailing stormy seas, is always a hit with the kids, as is the spinning accessible carousel.
If you have a child who likes to climb, then several forts and even well-established trees throughout the playground will provide the perfect platform for scaling, swinging and clambering.
Arthur Davis Park is situated beside the Sandgate Aquatic Centre and Bramble Bay, so pairing your play at the park with a swim, walk or picnic is always a great option.ย
Imagination Factor at Arthur Davis Park
The picture-perfect beachside location of Arthur Davis Park will have your Brisbane Kids acting like a pirate, throwing in a line from the play boat or โhanging tenโ on the play surfboard.
At low tide, they can even head down to the shoreline and dig for hidden treasure, collect shells or build a sandcastle. If you have a keen eye, or perhaps a pair of binoculars, you can even spot ships passing through Moreton Bay, kite surfers skimming over the waters or planes landing and taking off from Brisbane Airport across the bay.ย
Accessibility at Arthur Davis Park
Access to Arthur Davis Park is via concrete paths, which extend along the foreshore as a shared pathway. There are both bark and rubber bases throughout the park, with direct access to the accessible carousel, which is sure to evoke many squeals of delight. Cognitive play panels are also easily accessible.
Accessible toilets are located within the toilet block next to the playground.

While You Are in the Area
On the hunt for some other fun playgrounds nearby? Check out Lower Moora Park in Shorncliffe (2.3km away) and Decker Park in Brighton (3.3km away), both reachable by the shared pathway or a short drive away.
A cafe/fish and chip shop is located just across the road from the playground where you can grab some fish and chips, ice-cream or a coffee.
If you have dogs
We often visit Arthur Davis Park on low tide and bring our dogs along for the fun (They must remain on-leash at all times). The mudflats on the foreshore go out for hundreds of metres and our dogs love the opportunity to walk in a new environment, smelling unfamiliar smells and generally living their best lives.
What We Thought of Arthur Davis Park
As a family we have loved visiting this park over the years especially on a warm Summer evening after indulging in some fish and chips by the water.
After a play at the park (the kids adore spinning on the accessible carousel and rocking on the boat) a leisurely walk along the pathway which hugs the water is always relaxing. Bring the scooters too, as the path is nice a wide, though can be busy on weekends.
