Bribie OPA Greek Festival Dancing in the street

Bribie 2024 OPA Greek Festival

The Bribie 2024 OPA Greek Festival invites everyone to immerse themselves in a rich celebration of Greek culture. The day begins with a Greek Orthodox Liturgy in the Chapel from 9:00 to 10:00 am, setting the tone for a day filled with tradition and festivity.

Starting at 10:00 am, visitors can savour traditional handmade Greek cuisine and indulge in freshly made Greek sweets that are sure to delight the taste buds. The festival will feature live Greek music, including the iconic Zorba dance, performed by the Greek band ‘Nisiotes’ (Islanders), with a special performance by interstate bouzouki artist ‘Luciano’. Attendees will also have the opportunity to watch authentic traditional Greek dancing from various regions of Greece, showcasing the country’s vibrant cultural heritage.

Wine enthusiasts can sample selections from KOMINOS Wines, while those interested in culinary arts can enjoy Greek traditional cooking demonstrations. The festival’s ‘Kafeneo’ (traditional coffee house) will serve barista-made Greek coffee and a variety of traditional sweets.

In keeping with Bribie Island’s unique character, a special sand sculpture will be created during the event, adding a local touch to the festivities. Children can enjoy the fun zone, complete with rides and face painting, ensuring entertainment for all ages.

For those needing transportation, the Translink Bus (Route 640) will run every hour throughout the day, starting from Caboolture Railway Station, providing easy access to the festival.

The event offers a rare chance to experience the charm of a Greek church on an island, making it as close as possible to a traditional Greek village paniyiri for those who haven’t had the chance to visit one. The Bribie 2024 OPA Greek Festival promises to be a fun and memorable day for everyone.
