Frequently Asked Questions

Can both parents stay? Currently, only one parent can stay overnight (the BEPC are working on options though). There is also ability for parents to swap throughout the week. Families are welcome to join for education and meals at any time though (no set visiting hours).

Does private health cover my stay? There is usually not an out-of-pocket cost for you and your baby to stay. The Brisbane Early Parenting Centre preadmission team can confirm this with you prior to booking in. Your family can also attend multiple times up to when your baby is around 18 months of age.

What if I don’t have private health insurance? There is a self-funding option available.

Do you cater for dietary requirements? Yes, the BEPC kitchen can provide all dietary requests. You can choose from a daily menu.

Can I bring my own snacks? You are welcome to bring your own snacks. There is a bar fridge in your room if needed for cold food.

Do I need to stay the full week? To gain the most out of the programme, you are encouraged to stay for the full admission. However, the BEPC understands this can be challenging for different reasons and are happy to negotiate if needed.

Do I have to stay in the unit all day? The Brisbane Early Parenting Centre understands the importance of fresh air and encourages you to bring a pram/baby carrier and go out for daily walks. There are some great local parks appropriate for older babies.

What if I feel the strategies aren’t aligning with mine? The BEPC works in partnership with families and focuses on infant and maternal/paternal mental health.

Can I attend the centre more than once? You and your baby are able to be readmitted any time up to 18 months of age.

The Brisbane Early Parenting Centre is located within North West Private Hospital, on Flockton Street at Everton Park.
