The History of LEGO Stores
LEGO has been building memories for many years, with Ole Kristiansen founding the LEGO Group in Billund, Denmark in 1932.
While there are more than 1,000 official LEGO stores worldwide, there are just 22 LEGO-certified stores in Australia and New Zealand.
LEGO Certified Stores are owned and operated by an authorised third party in agreement with the LEGO Group. While LEGO stores are run by the LEGO Group.
We have several LEGO-certified stores in Brisbane and the Gold Coast, each offering slightly different stock, rewards systems, and specials.
As of 2024, there are three AG LEGO Certified Stores in Queensland (Chermside, Robina and Townsville). And in case you were wondering what AG stands for – it’s Alquemie Group, which is a retail brand investment and growth platform.
The store at Dreamworld is owned by a different third party, and as such is not affiliated with the Robina, Chermside or Townsville stores.
FUN FACT: In 2023 the LEGO Group and Alquemie Group opened the world’s largest (900sqm) certified LEGO store in Sydney.

Coomera – Dreamworld LEGO Certified Store

Opened to the public in January 2017, the large store sits near the main entrance of Dreamworld and acts as the exit point for guests leaving the park. But don’t worry, you don’t require a Dreamworld ticket to visit the store. Guests can pop in whenever they like, particularly if they want to do a spot of shopping while they wait for the theme park to open.
The store features a large pick a brick wall, personalisation station, play tables, mini figure stations and lots of LEGO merchandise and sets.
Perhaps one of the best parts of the store is the several purpose built, life-sized LEGO models. Strike a pose and snap a selfie with the Dreamworld tiger, the Hulk, the gang from LEGO Friends and the Storm Troopers.

Special Events and Offers
Make and Take Sessions
Regularly throughout the year, usually celebrating special occasions and holiday seasons, most LEGO stores hold ‘Make and Take’ sessions. Ticket holders book a time to visit their preferred store, collect their mini build (usually a LEGO polybag) and build it at the table in store. And the best bit – you get to take your completed LEGO build home!
Make and Take sessions are designed for children aged 6-14 and are free but tickets are required by booking online. These sessions are very popular and sell out quickly, so make sure you are signed up to their emails and follow AG LEGO Certified Stores and/or Dreamworld Australia on social media to be the first to know about events.
Offers and Discounts
Whether you are shopping in-store or online, there are many discounts and offers to take advantage of at LEGO stores. Quite often ‘gift with purchases’ will be advertised, where buyers will receive a specified gift when purchasing particular sets or spending over a certain amount. It is best to have a quick look online or in-store before making a purchase to see what is on offer.
It is important to remember that different stores are owned by different companies, and as such offers and discounts will vary, so shop around.
Special Appearances
Keen LEGO fans will be pleased to know that a few times a year most LEGO stores will have special appearances (usually from a LEGO Master), VIP events and other random special events designed to inspire and excite LEGO lovers. Keep an eye out in-store and online for details.

AG LEGO Certified stores (including Chermside and Robina) have their own VIP program, which is free to join. Shoppers will receive points each time they shop and once 100 points is accumulated, you will receive a coupon to put towards your next purchase. Being a VIP also gives you early access to sales, new releases and other special events.
The Dreamworld LEGO store has its own VIP program which is only valid at that store. Perks include early access to sales, member only events and points earnt for every purchase.
Each reward program does have its own specific terms and conditions, so please check individual stores for details.
