“…a brilliant blend of science, humour and personal stories.” – Broadway World
After sell-out Australian tours and performances to packed theatres in London’s West End, fans of the ABC TV show Operation Ouch! with Dr Chris and Dr Xand van Tulleken were delighted to see the brothers back in Brisbane this year at QPAC!
Kicking off their national tour at the Concert Hall, QPAC, Operation Ouch! Live on Stage answered all the medical questions you never knew you wanted to know the answers to, such as ‘Why do new challenges and adventures sometimes feel scary?’, ‘What exactly happens to the food you eat?’, and ‘How do your eyes work?’.
Packed with incredible stunts, jokes, crazy experiments and amazing facts, the doctors explore the fascinating world of biology and show Brisbane Kids some of the awesome things your body can do. The best thing about Dr Chris and Dr Xand van Tulleken is that they explore medical science from a kid’s point of view, with lots of laughs and demonstrations that blow the audience’s minds!
TV’s favourite identical twins also share some of their favourite parts from their award-winning TV show in this engaging and educational show. The clever staging and innovative video elements make this show feel intimate and expansive, and the audience was gripped for the whole 1 hour and 15 minute run time.

Operation Ouch! Live on Stage Review
Our 9 year old and 6 year old reviewers laughed out loud at the poo jokes and references. They appreciated the warnings whenever anything ‘gross’ was about to be shown (there are a few very brief pieces of footage that feature wounds and medical procedures).
Our 6 year old was fascinated by the illusion elements and enjoyed some of the slapstick moments in the show. The poo references were right in his wheelhouse. He was a bit disgusted but couldn’t look away when one of the doctors put a camera up their nose to show some of their internal workings.
Our 9 year old enjoyed learning new things about the body and appreciated the song about dealing with situations that might make you worry and turning your fear into excitement, with tips on overcoming fears being a theme throughout the performance. The question and answer section was a hit with the audience as well.
This fascinating, exciting, hilarious show was worth catching for any Operation Ouch! fans or science lovers aged 5 years and over.
