Pick a pumpkin straight from the vine at Wamuran Pick Your Own Farm, around an hour north of Brisbane. The seasonal Halloween patch offers families the chance to choose their own pumpkins, explore a Halloween maze and decorate their finds to take home.
Entry is free, with pumpkins and other activities priced separately.
You get to cut your own pumpkins straight from the vine using a pair of shears provided on-site. Adult supervision is required. Pumpkins cost $2.50 per kilo, making it easy to pick up a few different sizes for your Halloween decorations.
Pumpkin Patch at Wamuran Pick Your Own Farm

This Halloween event is a hands-on experience for Brisbane Kids, who can see where pumpkins grow and get involved in choosing their own. From small pumpkins perfect for decorating to larger ones destined to become jack-o’-lanterns, there’s something special about bringing home a pumpkin you’ve picked yourself.
Instead of choosing a pumpkin from a shop, families can search the patch for one to carve, decorate or display at home. Shears are provided to cut pumpkins from the vine, with adults needed to help younger children.

Pumpkins are sold by weight, so the cost will depend on the size you choose. At $2.50 per kilo, a 4kg pumpkin would cost $10.
Visitors can also pick sunflowers or purchase gourds for their Halloween displays.

The experience can also be enjoyed in rain or shine. Check the farm’s Facebook page before travelling, particularly after rain, for opening updates and information about conditions. Pack gumboots and rain jackets if wet weather is expected.
Halloween Activities at the Farm
Alongside the pumpkin patch, there’s a Halloween maze to explore and spooky decorations to spot around the farm.

Children can decorate their chosen pumpkin at the decorating station, using paint pens and stencils. Pumpkin decorating is listed at $4, so check whether this is additional to the cost of your pumpkin before getting started.
The Magic Ingredient
Choosing a pumpkin that’s still growing in the patch is the highlight here. Children can look for different shapes and sizes before deciding which one they’d like to take home, making the picking part of the Halloween fun.
The Parent Factor
This is an outdoor activity so we recommend you dressing for the conditions. If the ground is wet, gumboots and clothes that can get muddy are sensible choices. Everytime we do any PYO type activity we also pack a spare change of clothes and a plastic bag to put the wet clothes in (and a separate one for the muddy shoes). We recommend checking their Facebook Page before you go to verify conditions and opening hours.

In previous years, ice cream trucks have also been on-site, adding an extra treat for families to enjoy. Recent rain has kept food trucks away, so check the farm’s Facebook page for the latest updates on what will be available when you visit.
