About SkyPoint Observation Deck on the Gold Coast
To locate SkyPoint, you just need to look up! It is located on the 77th floor of the Q1 Building, the tallest residential resort tower in Australia!
Formerly known as QDeck, the observation deck was open to the public in December 2005. Shortly after this, in December 2010, QDeck changed its name to SkyPoint which it is still known as today. In January 2012, the thrilling SkyPoint Climb was launched.

Views from SkyPoint Observation Deck
From the minute you step into the lift, thanks to the clever imagery on the walls, you will be able to get a glimpse of what views you will get from the SkyPoint Observation Deck. You will have to be quick though, the ride to the 77th floor takes just 38 seconds!
Once you step out of the lifts head straight to the windows and check out the views. There is no need to rush, and you can do as many laps as you like, so take your time โ you would be surprised how many different things you notice as you look around.
Scan the coastline and keep your eyes on the Pacific Ocean to see bathers, surfers, boating vessels and if you are very lucky – whales. The way the water sparkles in the sunshine is truly phenomenal.
Of course, you wouldnโt be in the God Coast unless you could see skyscrapers standing proudly along the coastline. What iconic buildings can you see?
Turning away from the coastline, you can catch glimpses of the Gold Coast Hinterland and everything in between. On a clear day you may even be able to spy the Brisbane skyline in the distance, or perhaps Byron Bay to the south.
As you explore the viewing deck on floor 77, you will find many informative signs and information panels. Take a moment to read them, they are actually quite fascinating.
Note โ Occasionally the opening and closing hours of SkyPoint may vary, or the observation deck may be closed altogether, so please double check availability prior to visiting.
Activities to Enjoy at SkyPoint Observation Deck
To enhance your visit at SkyPoint, especially if you are celebrating a special occasion, take advantage of some of the other activities you can book for an additional fee.
The Climb Experience
To capture 360-degree views of the Gold Coast, outdoors, at 270m above sea level, you will need to book Australiaโs highest external building climb at SkyPoint.
After the safety briefing and a quick ride in the elevator you will head outside and start the climb. If you are really daring, you can even opt to walk on the โedgeโ of the stairs as you make your way to the top. Just donโt look down โ itโs a 270m vertical drop!!
There are some restrictions though โ you must be at least 130cm tall and be over the age of 12 (children 12-15yrs must be accompanied by a full-paying adult).
Climbs can be booked during the day, for sunrise or you can even treat yourself to a climb and dine package. If you are having trouble deciding which experience to buy for someone, you can always purchase an e-gift voucher.
Further details and bookings can be made via the SkyPoint website.
Eating at SkyPoint Observation Deck
If all the spectacular views make you thirsty or hungry, take a moment to sit down and enjoy a beverage and/or a bite to eat.
Informal bar stools, tables and couches are dotted around the edge of the venue, while closer to the centre of the building (but still with great views), is the dining area where you can sit down at tables and chairs and enjoy a snack or meal.
A breakfast buffet is served from 7.30am โ 10.30am daily, so not only can you fill your bellies with delicious food, but your eyes will be treated to stunning views of the Gold Coast. NB. You will need to purchase entry tickets to the buffet breakfast in the SkyPoint lobby upon arrival.
To dine at other times just simply purchase your ticket to the observation deck and order from the menu when youโre at the dining area on the 77th floor. On offer you will find all the popular menu items including share plates, pizzas, burgers, Devonshire tea and a childrenโs menu.
Top Tip: Holders of a Dreamworld annual pass are entitled to a discount when dining at SkyPoint โ just ask the friendly staff member for details.

What We Thought of the SkyPoint Observation Deck
Our family enjoy visiting the SkyPoint Observation Deck every chance we get when visiting the Gold Coast. There is always something new to see, even if you have visited recently. Time your visits so you can take advantage of the view at different times of the day. Sunrises and sunsets are particularly beautiful.
We like to do several laps of the viewing deck, and when time allows enjoy a bite to eat while soaking up the scenery.

While You Are in the Area
We know the Gold Coast is known for its beaches (which I am sure you will visit) but if you are looking for something a little different in the area why not visit one of the amazing children’s playground dotted around the region – the Peninsula Playground at the Broadwater Parklands is one of our faves.
For a little bit of culture or to escape the elements check out the Home of the Arts (HOTA) – they even have a children’s gallery.
