Big Waves Coming to Aussie World
Hold onto your swimsuits, Brisbane families! The Sunshine Coast might soon be home to an incredible new waterpark, and we’re bubbling with excitement to share the details with you!
Imagine this: a $60 million aquatic wonderland right next door to the beloved Aussie World. That’s right, folks! A development application has just been submitted to the Sunshine Coast Council for what could become the region’s largest waterpark.
What’s in Store for the new Sunshine Coast Water Park?
If approved, this wet and wild playground will feature a whopping 16 water slides for all ages, leisure pools, action pools, and heaps of waterplay areas. And that’s not all – there’ll be yummy food outlets, a pool bar for the grown-ups, comfy sun lounges, and even private cabanas for a touch of luxury.
But wait, there’s more! This isn’t just any ordinary waterpark. The plans put a strong emphasis on sustainability and accessible tourism, making it a perfect fit for the lead-up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. How cool is that?
More Than Just Fun in the Sun
Jenny Howell, the General Manager of Aussie World, is thrilled about the project. “We’re always looking for new ways to create must-visit experiences,” she says. “This waterpark will be something locals can be proud of and visitors won’t want to miss!”
The best part? This aquatic playground isn’t just about fun (though there’ll be plenty of that!). It’s also set to make a big splash in the local economy. The construction alone is expected to inject up to $39 million into the area over three years. Once it’s up and running, they’re hoping to attract over 780,000 visitors annually by 2031. That’s a lot of happy, water-logged people!
Planning Your Visit
For all you savvy holiday planners out there, they’re even thinking about offering a two-day pass. That means more time for splashing and an even better reason for out-of-towners to stay and play on the Sunshine Coast.
