  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

The Backyard at Westfield Coomera

Last updated: November 19, 2025

Located just off the food court in Westfield Coomera, The Backyard is a multi-area playground with plenty for kids to explore. From water play to scooter paths, this nature-inspired play space offers hours of entertainment in the heart of the shopping centre.

The playground has a distinctly Australian theme, creating a mini bushland adventure for families with trees, creeks and native wildlife sculptures including wombats, echidnas and frogs.

Sensory Play Space

The fully gated Sensory Play Space is designed with preschoolers in mind and has interactive elements to touch, see and hear. There’s a log tunnel to crawl through, a fallen tree tunnel with sensory boards, a small slide and a quiet, dark log cubby that’s perfect for a game of hide and seek.

The Adventure Play Space

This area is geared towards slightly older children, offering cargo nets, climbing ropes, trampolines, a basket swing and a wooden tree structure with a slide.

The Creek

The Creek is a water play zone that’s sure to be a hit on hot days. There are water pumps, fountains, a water wheel and a series of shallow streams leading into a billabong pool with bubbling boulders.

The water is very shallow – mostly ankle deep – making it perfect for toddlers. Bring rashies and a change of clothes, because the kids will want to get wet!

The Loop

Running around the entire playground is The Loop – a shared, flat path designed for scooters and small bikes. Kids can cruise around safely while still staying close to the main play areas.

Imagination Factor at The Backyard

Kids will love to splash and play in The Creek at The Backyard. They can follow the flow of water through the streams, experimenting with the pumps and fountains to see how this makes the water move.

In the Adventure and Sensory Play Spaces, kids might imagine they’re deep in the Australian bush, climbing trees, hiding in hollow logs or discovering secret animal homes.

Accessibility at The Backyard

This playground is welcoming to all ages and abilities. It will be most popular with toddlers and preschoolers, but there’s enough to keep your older kids engaged as well.

You’ll find plenty of seating around the playground on white chairs and benches, and the convenience of food and coffee options just a few steps away in the adjacent food court.

There’s dappled shade throughout the playground from trees and shade sails, but some areas are exposed, particularly around The Creek, so hats are recommended.

The Sensory Play Space is fully gated, and a gate separates the playground from the car park, but otherwise The Backyard is open to the shopping centre.
