Ahoy mateys! Grab your little pirates and mermaids and get ready to set sail on the seven seas to visit one of Brisbane’s hidden treasures – Coochiemudlo Island. The Coochiemudlo Foreshore East Park boasts water views so parents can soak in the beach vibes while the kids play by the bay.
Coochiemudlo Foreshore East Park Playground
Don’t be surprised if the kids squeal with excitement when the ferry pulls into Coochiemudlo Island. Although it is only 15 minutes from Victoria Point, it feels like a world away as you immediately settle into island time. When you arrive on your own ‘treasure island,’ turn right for the main beach and the Foreshore East Park Playground.
This sand-based playground is the perfect spot for Brisbane Kids eight and under. Your little ones will find a variety of challenging and fun equipment to engage with. Don’t forget to bring their swimmers and sand toys as the kids will probably make a beeline for the water pump if it’s a hot day. The best part? If they need extra water, they can quickly run to the ocean to grab more!
There are several climbing elements to conquer in this playground. A mini ropes course among the fort will have your little ones testing their balance as they weave between the levels. While high up on the rope pyramid, children can pretend they’re on top of a boat’s mast, scouring the sea for their next boat to plunder. Littler adventures can delight in spinning onboard the mini cone twister.
A bank of swings – a basket swing, a regular swing, and a toddler swing – is a place to take in the view and enjoy the island breeze.
The playground features not one but two slides. The first is a cute little slide, perfect for toddlers just gaining their confidence. The second, fully enclosed slide will see slightly older children whizzing up and down. Yet the flying fox nearby is the fastest form of transportation on the island!
