  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to doโ€ฆ

Ducie Street Park

Last updated: July 27, 2023
Slides at Ducie Street Park.

Hidden quietly in the streets of Darra, Ducie Street Park is an action-packed playground waiting to be explored by Brisbane Kids of all ages. There is even something special here for the family dog.

Ducie Street Park Playground

The first thing you’ll notice when you visit Ducie Street Park is the two extensive and elaborate forts. Also, there are slides everywhere, six in total across the two forts! The various heights and styles of the slides mean there is something to suit all ages and preferences.

Large fort playground and shade sails at Ducie Street Park.

The larger fort is tall and has four impressive pillars connected by bridges. There are many different ways to climb into these towers, including rope nets, various footholds, stairs and stepping platforms.

The smaller fort is better suited to younger children and adventurous toddlers. Below this fort are some games like Noughts and Crosses and Four in a Row. There are many different climbing options for children to enter this fort too.

Toy train and playground at Ducie Street Park.

A small toddler train is situated at ground level for the smaller Brisbane Kids. Toddlers can climb through its circular front, drive the train with the spinning steering wheel, move the sliding discs or simply sit and stare out across the vast green fields.

Other play equipment at Ducie Street Park includes an incredible spinning sphere to entertain children who love a dizzy feeling. In addition, there are four swings, including a toddler swing and a nest swing, two Australian animal spring riders and a see-saw.

BBQ and picnic shelter at Ducie Street Park.

Large sandstone blocks bordering the playground make a lovely place for adults to sit and rest as they watch their children play. In addition, there are several covered and uncovered picnic tables, BBQs, plus some park benches situated under native trees.

Imagination Factor at Ducie Street Park

Grab your equipment and get ready to run! Active kids with energy to burn will be keen to scatter across all the fields playing hide and seek, a game of tiggy or even some soccer. Need more? There is a basketball court, volleyball court and cricket pitch to explore too.

Accessibility at Ducie Street Park

The base under the playground at Ducie Street Park is rubber soft fall. Quite a few play panels are low to the ground, and there is a nest swing, but no specific all-abilities play equipment.

Flat pathways lead from the street parking to the playground making pram and wheelchair access doable. Covered and uncovered picnic tables are dotted around the park and there is accessible toilets at the park.

What We Thought of Ducie Street Park

Spring rider and playground at Ducie Street Park.

Ducie Street Park was an exciting find. We were thrilled there was so much to do in the playground and throughout the rest of the park.

We thought the playground was very well positioned at the top of the hill where parents can stay close to their littlest kids but still have a good view of children playing in other areas of the park. We also found the expansive green fields viewed from the playground gave us a peaceful feeling.
