  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to doโ€ฆ

Everton Park Library and Playground

Last Updated: October 9, 2024
Book steps at Fallon Park, beside Everton Park Library.

Venture to Everton Park on Brisbane’s northside to combine a love of play and books at the Everton Park Library and adjoining Fallon Park. Children’s imagination will be ignited with a shaded playground, mini performance stage, play panels and lots of hidden elements to engage all who visit.

Fallon Park Playground

Playground covered by shade sails at Fallon Park, beside Everton Park Library.

If you are looking for a shady park, next to a library which is ideal for toddlers then Fallon Park is your answer.

This unfenced playground is surrounded by grassed areas, is under the shade of well-established trees and shade sails and has a lovely natural feel to it.

Balancing logs and wooden bridge at Fallon Park, beside Everton Park Library.

Paths weave through the park, over a little wooden bridge and stepping stones lead into the gardens where visitors can take a rest on the bench seat, appreciate the colourful mural painted by local children or discover some hidden treasures such as turtle sculptures, a mother duck and duckling or a clutch of eggs (do they belong to a dinosaur? bird? unicorn?)

The playground, suited to toddlers and young primary school aged children, contains a fort, rope bridge, sliding and climbing poles, and slide. For those that like to soar, a bank of swings features a toddler, standard and nest swing.

Plenty of play panels adorn the playground with a very strong native animal theme. Join the scavenger hunt, complete the find a word or just have fun playing and discovering the hidden gems around the playground.

Performing stage at Fallon Park, beside Everton Park Library.

Budding performers will relish at the chance to act, sing and dance on the stage, complete with curtains and side mirrors. The audience hasnโ€™t been forgotten either, with a few seating options to rest on while watching the show.

A balancing log and a wooden rowboat round out this play area, which makes a delightful location for playdates, picnics and other gatherings with young children.

Everton Park Library

Everton Park Library building.

After a much-needed upgrade, the new Everton Park Library opened its doors to the community in March 2024 and has been enjoying a steady flow of visitors since.

The large, modern building on South Pine Road is home to all the usual library facilities including books, newspapers, magazines, meeting rooms, reference services, wi-fi and more.

Children's section at Everton Park Library.

The children have their own section with books stored in low-to-ground tubs for ease of use and a very cool digital projection on to the floor. Cute, kid-friendly toys for sitting on, as well as comfy chairs are dotted around the area, encouraging users to stay a while and discover the books.

Floor-to-ceiling windows occupy much of the back of the library, lending itself to lovely views of the grassed area, tall trees and playground in Fallon Park.  An outside area with tables and chairs overlooks this area also and is a lovely spot to take a moment to appreciate the park.

Special events, workshops and free activities are often held at council libraries, especially during the school holidays, so check online or at the library for what is coming up next.

The Everton Park Library is open five days a week โ€“ closed Mondays, Sundays and public holidays. Opening and closing hours do vary, so please check the Brisbane City Council website for current details.

Imagination Factor at Fallon Park Playground

On a visit to Fallon Park the children (and possibly adults) can let their imagination run wild. The performing stage is just waiting for budding performers to sing a song, display their acting skills or dance their hearts out.

Alternatively, one may like to find a quiet spot to read a book, do some sketching or just lie on a rug and watch the world go by.

Accessibility at Everton Park Library and Playground

Pathways in Fallon Park, beside Everton Park Library.

The Everton Park Library is accessible with ramps and lifts transporting visitors from the pathways or carpark to the library. Accessible car parking spaces are also available.

Once inside the library you will find accessible toilets and baby change facilities. This library also notes itself as breastfeeding friendly.

Fallon Park has concrete paths leading from the carparks, through the park and to the library making it accessible for those in wheelchairs, using walking aides or prams. The playground is a mixture of softfall base and bark making access a little difficult for some.

Within the playground there is no designated inclusive equipment however there is a nest, toddler and standard swing and some low to the ground play panels. The performance area could also potentially be accessed by those in wheelchairs, though some assistance might be needed.

What We Thought About Everton Park Library and Playground

Bench seat and gardens at Fallon Park, beside Everton Park Library.

The shady nature of this park under the towering trees made visiting this playground a pleasurable one. The opportunities for imaginative play were endless.

On our next visit I could definitely see myself sitting in the shade of a tree sipping on a coffee, while the kids happily play and run around.

We loved the natural setting of Fallon Park and its close proximity to the Everton Park library, where we can easily combine our love of playing outdoors and books.
