Here’s a list of five great parks near Brisbane Airport all of them featuring playgrounds!
Whether you’re wanting somewhere outdoors to wait for visitors you’re collecting, or you’re after somewhere for you and your kids to stretch your legs when you arrive after being cooped up in a plane, or even if you’re just after a place to do a bit of plane spotting, it’s handy to know where some parks are near the Brisbane Airport.
Nudgee Beach Playground
Nudgee Beach Playground is situated right on Moreton Bay in the picturesque and nostalgic suburb of Nudgee Beach. This spot is popular with people from all over Brisbane, and it’s easy to see why. It has a maintained, laid-back vibe, and plenty of features are here for kids to enjoy.
It’s to the East of the Airport and a short drive from the Gateway Motorway. This playground boasts two separate play areas, access to the sand and water at low tide, and ample lawn areas forfeit for running around and stretching your legs. There’s also a convenience store and fish and chip shop across the road. You can find Nudgee Beach on Fortitude Street at Nundah.
Hercules Street Park
Hercules Street Park is not like anything we’ve seen before. It is a Brisbane playground creation that is certainly going to burn up a lot of energy. With its huge rubberised mound, an abundance of cargo netting and mega slides, it’s an active kid’s dream come true. There’s ninja style elements here as well as a water play section.
Hercules Street Park is to the South West of Brisbane Airport in the direction of Brisbane City as well as inner and Western suburbs. Hercules Park is located on 40 Remora Rd, Hamilton.
TC Beirne Park, Hendra
This lovely Hendra park is the perfect park for toddlers with numerous play opportunities on a variety of different play equipment. TC Beirne Park Hendra features a spinning disc for the older toddlers who want a bit of a thrill and an old shell of a car purpose-built for lots of fun imaginative play. There are two slides, and stairs to reach the slide making this a perfect playground for toddlers still finding their feet. The playground is also fully fenced which can give you some peace of mind while the kids are playing.
This playground is right across the Gateway Motorway from the DFO directly to the West of Brisbane Airport. TC Beirne Park is located on Gerler Street in Hendra.
Kalinga Park, Clayfield
Driving through the gates of heritage-listed Kalinga Park, north of Brisbane, you are instantly surrounded by well-established trees, plenty of green open spaces, and a playground that is guaranteed to entertain the children for hours.
The timber forts, which resemble trees houses, are adorned with many opportunities to climb (think nets, poles, bars, ladders, steps and climbing wall). Those wanting to exert a little more energy can kick a ball on the large, grassed areas surrounding the playground, cycle, walk or run along the paths throughout the park, ‘shoot some hoops’, play tennis or make use of the outdoor gym equipment. The playground is suitable for children of all ages, with a separate structure, slide and swings designed for younger children.
This park is to the West of the Brisbane Airport, alongside Kedron Brook in Clayfield. Kalinga Park is located on Bertha Street in Clayfield.
