  • AboutBrisbane Kids Creative was created by me! Ngaire Stirling. I wont pretend to talk in the third person about myself, instead let me tell you a bit about me and how 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came about. At the time the domain name 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for purchase I was a stay at home mum in the middle of a degree centred around journalism and PR. a couple of years earlier I had been contemplating returning to my previous career in marketing management and for a while I even tried. 3 months into a new role and it was clear that I had no passion for my old life and to make the decision to quit easier, my almost 2 year old at the time was not coping with childcare. So, as a family we made the decision for me to return to becoming a stay at home mum. About 1 years later or so.. 110.232.142.129/~brisba22 came up for sale. My friends had often commented on my ability to know exactly what was happening in Brisbane for kids. I had my son enrolled in some awesome activities and we often visited some great destinations. I loved finding fun things for us to do…

Cafés With Play Areas

Last Updated: December 12, 2024
cafes with play areas and donuts

If you have young kids finding a café with play area almost becomes more important than the quality of the coffee they serve. What if you could get both? YES they do exist- cafés, coffee to be drink and places to eat with a play area for the kids.

They want to play. And you want to enjoy a (hot) coffee, relax or participate in an uninterrupted adult conversation. No, not at an indoor play centre – unless you find 50 screaming kids in an enclosed space particularly relaxing.

So, in no specific order, here is our list of child-friendly café to relax, eat and drink in Brisbane with play areas.

Birds & Bees Café, Everton Hills

5/1 Queens Road, Everton Hills

birds and the bees cafe north brisbane

Birds & Bees Café is a family-oriented café and a wonderful place to take kids out for breakfast or lunch. There is an enclosed play area complete with small tables and chairs, chalk boards and two boxes of toys. The kids’ menu starts from $6 and includes eggs on toast, ham and cheese toasties, BBQ chicken bites, or toast with spreads. Prams are happily accommodated, which is especially great if your baby is not sitting up in a high chair yet.

Milk + Honey is a children’s boutique and café offering a collection of thoughtfully curated children’s products and a carefully created café space for both kids and adults to enjoy.

Milk + Honey provides a dedicated place for littlies to have a play, while adults can enjoy a shop or sit down for a relaxing coffee. Kids can enjoy beautiful baby chinos (which are free!) and mini milk shakes. For the adults, alongside coffee, you can enjoy a sweet treat such as a pastry or muffin in air-conditioned comfort.

Visit the Milk + Honey website.

The Alley, Everton Park

151 Flockton Street, Everton Park

The Alley Cafe Everton Park

The Alley Cafe at Everton Park place is tucked away on the campus of Northside Christian College with ample parking available. Whilst there is no food licence, they do serve cookies, muffins, sandwiches, pop tops, babycinos and, importantly, tea and coffee.

The playground is astroturfed and covered by a large shade cloth. It is fully enclosed with glass panels, which makes supervision easy! Toilet facilities very close by with ramp/pram access and includes a fold-down change table for babies.

Sirromet Winery, Mount Cotton

850 Mount Cotton Road, Mount Cotton

child friendly sirromet

Don’t be deterred by the formality of the word “winery” (a 5 star winery at that). There is a more casual dining experience available on the timber deck of the Tuscan Terrace outside under the trees. The menu caters for kids with delicious, well portioned and well-priced meals, ice cream and cakes. All ordering (including beer and wine) is made at the kitchen counter and collected at the kitchen window.

There is a great playground onsite with beautiful views, shaded tables nearby and beautiful lawns, making it a wonderful place for parents to relax, while the kids are entertained.

Café Lagarto, Samford Valley

225 Mt Glorious Road, Samford Valley

Kids' playground at Cafe Lagarto in Samford

Enjoy the relaxed garden surroundings at Café Lagarto, where the kids can play in the outdoor area while you enjoy a coffee or some lunch.

Café Lagarto has an all-day menu including homemade cakes, pancakes, eggs, french toast, juice, and smoothies. While they do not have a specific children’s menu, they are more than happy to convert all of their menu items to child-friendly portions.

Victoria Park Bistro, Herston

223 Herston Road, Herston

Open every day. You can read our review here.

The play area here is fully enclosed, built upon soft fall wood chips and has a huge raised cubby house complete with a play kitchen, two slides and an undercover area filled with tool boxes and trucks. There is a rock wall, climbing net, slides and chalkboards to enjoy.

The kid’s menu includes bacon and eggs with toast, avocado toast, pancakes, mini cheeseburgers, fish and chips, pizza, and ice cream – all well priced.

Each Sunday there is live entertainment, market food carts and great specials!

Visit the Victoria Park Bistro website.

White Horse Ranch, Albany Creek

31-33 Ferguson St, Albany Creek

white horse ranch, child friendly cafe, albany creek, cubby house.

White Horse Ranch has a cute play space with a cubby and toys to welcome families of all ages. From bead mazes for the littlest fingers, to wooden blocks and toy food for creative and imaginative play, the play space is always a hit and there are also trucks and cars for busy little kids to push around. This area is fenced and gated and there is plenty of seating and tables nearby so it’s easy to supervise little ones while they play.

White Horse Ranch has a range of meals on their all day menu. There’s also a great kids’ menu featuring 4 sweet and savoury favourites, as well as a range of cakes, pastries and other delicious treats in their window. They are open for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights, with a share plate tapas-style menu as well as burgers and pizzas.

Visit the White Horse Ranch website.

Kids Play Café Pure Tennis, Samford

144 Samford Road, Samford Village

Child friendly cafe with play area north brisbane

The stand out feature of this hidden gem is that one of the tennis courts has been assigned as a large, fenced (now we’re talking!) area for the kids! There is a mini ride-on tractor, cars and trucks for your kids to drive. An indoor playroom has also been set up and is covered in a soft fall mat. There is a large play table which is full of blocks, a toy kitchen, kid’s shopping trollies, dolls house, books, baskets full of toy cars, kids laptops and interactive toys, soft toys, a rocking chair, baby toys and kids musical instruments.

The café offers kid’s sized milkshakes, babycinos, slushies, pop-top juices, potato curls, brownies, Tiny Teddies and lots of allergy friendly options. As they do not offer a full menu, the cafe is happy for parents to bring along some food/snacks for their children as well. The café also provides toilet facilities, high chairs, a baby change area and also a sink (in the play area) if needed.

Visit the Pure Tennis Ferny Hills website.

Sandstone Point Hotel, Sandstone Point

1800 Sandstone Point Road, Sandstone Point

Windmill and tanks at the Sandstone Point Hotel playground.

Located just before the bridge from the mainland to Bribie Island, Sandstone Point Hotel has marked itself as a firm favourite among families. With beautiful dining spaces, stunning views, and generous play spaces just some of its many highlights, the kids’ menu for children 10 years and younger is reasonably priced and provides favourites such as chicken nuggets, spaghetti, pizza and fish but also offers kids something a little fancier.

Along with acres of grass outdoors for kids to run free on, there’s also an outdoor jumping pillow and soccer nets. Indoors, you will find an internal playroom which includes a big screen TV and games for older children.

Visit the Sandstone Point Hotel website.

The Glen Hotel, Eight Mile Plains

85 Gaskell Road, Eight Mile Plains

The Glen Hotel playground.

Children are at the forefront of all offerings at The Glen Hotel. The kids menu offerings begin with junior pancakes and eggs on toast for breakfast, through to numerous kids-specific meals on the main menu for dinner. Every child receives a free activity pack with their kids meal to keep them entertained at the table.

The young ones love the playground area with the tractor, tunnel tube and double slide! With the dining area located adjacent to this space, parents can enjoy uninterrupted dining.

Visit The Glen Hotel website.

Great value is important to families and every Wednesday night, The Glen Hotel offers ‘Kids Eat Free’* from the kids menu, in addition to a ‘Kids Eat Free’* breakfast on Sunday at Charles Baker Donuts & Coffee.
