The newly refurbished Leicester Street Park in Coorparoo is popular for good reason. Not only is it a spacious park set amongst the beautiful big trees, it also features a fun cafe themed playground providing plenty of inspiration for role play.
Leicester Street Park Playground
‘Coorparoo Coffee Shop’ and ‘Koala Cafe’ are ready for little chefs and baristas to enjoy some creative role play. The cubby house/forts which are fitted with a sink, stovetop, tap, washing machine and serving windows are easily accessible for toddlers to enjoy.
Add a side of climbing, balancing, swinging, exploring the natural environment and your kids are bound to be busy having fun for a while. The scavenger hunt, word puzzles and tic tac toe are engaging for slightly older kids.
For the explorers and nature loving kids there is plenty of naturally fallen flora they can gather and play with. Or, sit quietly watching and listening to the local animals, birds and insects.
The big shady gumtrees are beautiful to sit under for a picnic or to simply recharge. There are a couple of covered picnic tables and bench seats, but it might be wise to bring a picnic rug.
Unfortunately there are no toilets at Leicester Street Park, so plan accordingly.
Imagination Factor at Leicester Street Park
Pretend you are a chef cooking up a storm in the kitchen or a barista making coffees and hot chocolates. When you have a spare minute, do a load of laundry in the washing machine.
For the adventure seeking kids, balance your way across the netted bridge and zoom down the big slide. Wombat Burrow and the small slide are perfect for smaller developing gross motor skills.
Accessibility at Leicester Street Park
Leicester Street Park has plenty of shade, both natural and shade cloth. Sadly, this is an unfenced park and there are no toilets.
You can find plenty of street parking surrounding the park. The short walk to the playground off the street is nice and flat but there is not a designated concrete path. There are bench seats and covered picnic tables throughout the space.

What We Thought of Leicester Street Park
We love this park for a shorter play session. The climbing walls, bridges, moving steps and tunnels cater well for various ability levels, though we find this playground is ideal for younger children. The pretend coffee shop and swings are always a hit for my toddler.
Unfortunately, one of the major drawbacks of this park is the lack of toilets, so make sure you plan ahead before visiting.
