Temperatures outside might be cooling down, but things are heating up at many of Brisbane’s heated swimming pools. If you’re looking for a way to keep the kids entertained this winter, don’t overlook your local pool. The only thing to keep in mind is that pool maintenance is often done in winter, so check before you go to make sure there are no closures. Heated swimming pools in Brisbane

The Emily Seebohm Aquatic Centre, Fitzgibbon

The Emily Seebohm Aquatic Centre offers swimming lessons, squad programs and aqua aerobics. The complex is also open to casual swimmers and includes:

a heated, 25-metre, six-lane, outdoor pool with an accessible ramp
a heated, 25-metre indoor programs pool with an accessible ramp
a large, grassed leisure area and shaded seating area.

Parkinson Aquatic Centre, Parkinson

The Parkinson Aquatic Centre offers a 50-metre outdoor, heated pool with an accessible ramp and an indoor heated programs pool with an accessible ramp. Casual swimmers are welcome and there is always a lifeguard on duty. The aquatic centre offers swimming lessons and group fitness. There is a grassed area around the pool, and tables in the reception area where you can enjoy refreshments from the kiosk, such as ice cream, hot food, slushies and other drinks.

Hibiscus Sports Complex, Upper Mount Gravatt

The Hibiscus Sports Complex has a 50-metre, Olympic-sized, outdoor pool which is heated. It also has two indoor heated pools: a 12-metre pool for learning to swim, and a 25-metre pool for recreation and fitness. There is also a health and fitness club and kiosk onsite.

Centenary Pool, Spring Hill

This Olympic-standard pool and diving pool complex, known as Centenary Pool, was built in the 1950s and remains open over winter, Its facilities and services include:

Spring Hill Baths, Spring Hill

Built in 1886, this heritage-listed swimming pool was Brisbane’s first in-ground pool. The Spring Hill Baths offers an enclosed heated pool, kiosk, aqua aerobics and swimming lessons and is open all year round.

Newmarket Olympic Swimming Pool, Alderley

At the Newmarket Olympic Swimming Pool, there is a 50 metre, eight-lane Olympic pool, as well as a 25-metre covered heated pool and indoor heated programs pool. However, the waterslide, wading pool and leisure pool are closed during winter.

Langlands Park Memorial Pool, Stones Corner

The Langlands Park Memorial Pool has a 25m pool, a 50 metre Olympic outdoor pool, a 10m enclosed teaching pool and a semi-shaded wading pool. All pools are individually heated year round, with ample shade throughout the complex.

Dunlop Park Memorial Swimming Pool, Corinda

The Dunlop Park Memorial Swimming Pool offers learn to swim classes, squad training, triathlete training and group fitness classes. Facilities at the pool include:

Yeronga Park Memorial Swimming Pool, Yeronga

Yeronga Park Memorial Pool is a great place to take a dip. It has four swimming pools (enclosed heated programs pool, 50-metre heated outdoor pool, 25 metre heated outdoor pool and kids’ wading pool) and offers swimming lessons, stroke development classes, kiosk and more. Yeronga Park Memorial Swimming Pool is open during summer and winter.

Colmslie Aquatic Centre, Colmslie Recreation Reserve

The Colmslie Aquatic Centre, located within the recreation reserve is popular with families. During winter, make use of their 50-metre outdoor, heated pool and an 18.5-metre indoor heated programs pool. There is also:

The Valley Pool, Fortitude Valley

The Valley Pool is a popular destination for elite swimmers and athletes, as well as recreational swimmers. There is 50-metre, outdoor, heated pool with grandstands as well as a fitness centre that offers group fitness classes. The pool is also an event pool for water polo and underwater hockey. There is an on-site cafe.

Runcorn Pool, Runcorn

During the winter months, the Runcorn Pool offers:

a heated, outdoor, 25 metre, lap pool
a heated, 14 metre, indoor, leisure therapy pool with ramp access.

You can swim for fun, swim laps for fitness, or take part in swimming lessons.

Mt Gravatt East Swimming Pool, Mt Gravatt East State School

The Mt Gravatt East Swimming Pool has a range of great facilities for fun and fitness for the whole community. There’s an indoor pool, with a ramp and wheelchair access that is heated to 32 degrees all year round. There is also an outdoor, 25 metre, salt water pool that is heated to 27 degrees throughout the year. You’ll also find a café and a 24-hour gym located adjacent to the pool entrance.

Chermside Aquatic Centre, Chermside

Set amongst tropical gardens, Chermside Aquatic Centre is a large public pool complex with:

a 25-metre heated, outdoor, lap pool (open all year round)
an outdoor fitness area
a heated 16-metre indoor programs pool (open all year round)
a kiosk on site.

Acacia Ridge Leisure Centre, Acacia Ridge

Acacia Ridge Leisure Centre is a Brisbane City Council recreation facility (managed by YMCA) that includes pool facilities, learn to swim classes for children of all levels, aqua aerobics, squad and lap swimming and recreational swimming.

QUT heated swimming pools, Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove

The Queensland University of Technology has two campuses with aquatic centres: a 50-metre heated pool at its Gardens Point campus, and a heated 25-metre pool at its Kelvin Grove campus. Both pools are open to the public.

Brisbane Aquatic Centre, Chandler

The Brisbane Aquatic Centre has an outdoor 50-metre pool, an indoor 50-metre pool, a 25-metre indoor activity pool, an indoor leisure pool which is perfect for toddlers for water play, and an indoor 50m waterslide for the bigger kids. During the holiday period, they run a pool based program with water activities daily offering something for all ages.

UQ Sport Aquatic Centre, St Lucia

The UQ Sport Aquatic Centre in St Lucia boasts three heated pools: a 50-metre Olympic-sized pool, a 25-metre pool and a dedicated program pool for kids’ learn-to-swim classes. You’ll find plenty of space to sit and relax at the Aquatic Centre, too. There’s deck-side bleacher seating, as well as landscaped grassed areas throughout the centre. There’s also Wi-Fi available for when you want to just chill at the café.

Griffith Uni Aquatic and Fitness Centre, Mt Gravatt

The Griffith University Aquatic Centre provides a variety of swimming and fitness training options including a heated 25-metre pool and gym. Holiday swimming intensives are run every school holidays to accelerate and strengthen your child’s swimming abilities.

Bundamba Swim Centre, Bundamba

The Bundamba Swim Centre features a heated 25-metre pool, a barbecue area for sausage sizzles and a kiosk for light snacks. A learn to swim program for babies through to adults is conducted at the centre and swim equipment is available for hire.

Georgie Conway Leichhardt Community Swim Centre, Leichhardt

The heated pool at the Georgie Conway Leichhardt Community Swim Centre is packed with facilities, including a children’s play pool and a barbecue area for a lunchtime sausage sizzle. A learn to swim program is conducted at the centre. During the winter season, the pool temperature is maintained at approximately 29 degrees.

Goodna Aquatic Centre, Goodna

The Goodna Aquatic Centre comprises three pools: a 25m, eight-lane lap pool, 16m x 12m multi-purpose pool and a children’s play pool. Both the 25m and multi-purpose pools have wheelchair access ramps. During the winter, the temperature of the 25m pool is maintained at between 27 to 28 degrees, the multi-purpose pool 32 degrees and the children’s play pool is unheated. A learn to swim program is conducted at the centre all year round.

Facilities at the Redcliffe War Memorial pool include:
