You really can’t go wrong taking the family to one of the stunning islands that are found in the Moreton Bay Region. From the white sands of Moreton Island to the family-friendly adventures on Bribie Island to the historical prisons on St Helena Island – they all need to be explored at some point!
Beaches
On the islands, along the bay, in protected spaces, and tucked away. There are some stunning beaches and bodies of water for kids to play in around Moreton Bay. Popular places include Bribie Island and Suttons Beach.

For some more laidback and peaceful family fun, take a day trip to one of the regions many picturesque country towns. Visit the Store of Requirement in Samford for a true Harry Potter experience or take the kids treasure hunting at the Dayboro Shed in Dayboro.

Moreton Bay Region for Families – Unique Experiences
Skyline Ferris Wheel
A new attraction to the Moreton Bay Region is a 35m ferris wheel that currently rises from Bicentennial Park in Woody Point. A temporary attraction that runs only until the end of October (2024) – we hope it become permanent or returns again each year!
Caboolture Historical Village
Step back in time with a visit to the Caboolture Historical Village. Showcasing buildings, vehicles and over 110,000 items dating from 1802 – 1985, its fun and a history lesson all rolled into one.
Steam Train Ride – Woodfood Heritage Railway
If your family loves trains, time a visit to the Woodford Heritage Railway. Running on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, ride the open air carriages and hear all about the history of the carriages, engine and track.
Kumbartcho Sanctuary Fairy Trail
Kumbartcho Sanctuary is a favourite amongst Brisbane Kids families. Not only is this forest reserve rich in flora and fauna, it has a delightful fairy trail that kids will delight in discovering!

Perfect for families to ride, scooter, walk, or run on – the Moreton Bay Cycleway is 150km of coastal track, with plenty of attractions and views to stop off at along the way.
Laserzone
Not just laser tag, but bumper cars and an arcade too! Treat the kids to some indoor action at Laserzone at Lawnton.
Caboolture Bowl and Mini Golf
Good old family fun. Try for that elusive strike with a game of tenpin bowling before hitting the green for a round (or two) of mini golf. Its all under the one roof at Caboolture Bowl and Mini Golf.
Rock Climbing
Families with older kids can first try the indoor rock climbing wall before climbing a ladder to the top of the Bundalong Recreation Centre. Don’t forget to take in the views before abseiling back down.
Bounce
Dodgeball, ninja warrior course, giant drops – oh and wall-to-floor trampoline fun. If the kids need to exert some energy while you enjoy a coffee at the cafe, Bounce at Morayfield is perfect!
Revolution Sports Park
Filled with everything to launch you skyward, Revolution Sports Park at Northlakes is jam-packed with fun for the whole family. From rock climbing, basketball, ninja courses, and a kids playground to endless trampolines with massive airbags. You can find it all here.
